Do you have a marketing department?
Guess what? YOU ARE the marketing department. And so is the person next to you.
The truth is, everything you do is marketing. Which means everyone in the company is directly or indirectly responsible for marketing. It is in the way the phone is answered. It is in the way you treat your customers and each other. It is in how fast the order get processed. Everything you do impacts the way the community views your company.
Does the job of marketing end when you clock out? No. What we do and who we work for is so much a part of who we are that we are ALWAYS on the clock in the marketing department. How many times have you been to a party or met someone new and they ask you, “what do you do”, or “where do you work”. You are building an image in their mind. You may be volunteering at your child’s school, or being loud and boisterous at a restaurant. You are building an image.
With that, let me welcome you to one of the most fun departments in your company. “Welcome to the marketing department!” We’ve been waiting for you.
